The Virely family have been producing wine in Pommard since 1926 and through marriage with the Rougeot family in 1951 the estate grew to have plots in Meursault as well. Now approaching their centenary of production Domaine Virely-Rougeot owns 9ha of vineyards in Pommard, Meursault and Beaune including parcels in lieux dits in Pommard 1er Cru Clos des Arvelets which Louis Virely purchased in 1926. Louis’ grandson Patrick then in 2003 acquired more vines in the cru making the Domaine, with 2 hectares the largest owner in Clos des Arvelets. In the care of Patrick and Virginie Virely they follow Agriculture raisonnée and are proud members of the Union of Independent Vignerons determined to defend both tradition and territory in that most Burgundian of ways
