Cascina Morassino is a tiny, family owned winery producing just 10,000 bottles of Barbaresco (half their production) from the heart of the Ovello Barbaresco MGA. Roberto Bianco, a graduate of the highly regarded Alba Oenological School, took over the winery from the his father Mauro who founded Morassino in 1984 after three previous generations had farmed the Ovello cru. His philosophy is to focus on the quality of the grapes and to optimise the potential of Morassino’s 4.5 hectares. This is very much a winery led by a vigneron, with no desire for a website and little focus outside of making the best wine every vintage with a bit of motocross on the side, naturally. An in-house favourite, with VinumTerra since we started and a classic.
